The participating institution, IGIC NASU is renowned Ukrainian research institute with a strong group in macrocyclic chemistry, led by Dr. hab. Oleg Varzatskii. The participating staff hasexcellent expertise in synthesis of heterocycles, macrocycles, elementorganic and coordination compounds. The participating experts specialize in synthesis and application of tris-diiminate clathrochelates and phthalocyanine complexes with d- and f-metals. They were the first to developegeneral synthetic methods for synthesis of clathrochelates with different symmetry and functionality, the first to obtain asymmetrical clathrochelate complexes, investigate reactions of coordinated ligands and develope approaches for the rational design of multifunctional and multicenter systems and hybrid systems. Presently they provide oriented basic research in the field of supramolecular, bioinorganic chemistry, biomedical application of macrocyclic compounds as luminiscent probes and topological drugs.The team has necessary equipmentto performsyntheses and identification of newly synthesised compounds.
The expertise in macrocyclic chemistry resulted in regular active collaboration with scientists from INEOS RAS (Moscow) and TSNUK (Kiev), and very recently with UWR and UHEI.
Dr. hab. Oleg A. Varzatskii
Expertise: Synthetic organic and coordination chemistry, spectroscopy.
Role: Development of synthetic methods for oximato-based chlathrochelate complexes, identification and characterization of the obtained compounds. Overall supervising of the IGIC NASU group.
Prof. Sergei V. Volkov
Expertise: Enormous experience in inorganic and coordination chemistry, especially in high-temperature coordination chemistry, solid state chemistry and nanochemistry.
Role: supervision of young researchers of the IGIC NASU group in their studies on the synthetic methods for obtaining of cage compounds and their characterization. Techniques applied: X-ray diffraction, NMR.
Dr. Viktor Y. Chernii
Expertise: Fine organic synthesis, synthetic coordination chemistry, X-ray analysis.
Role: Development of synthetic methods for organic ligands and hybrid compounds, acquisition of experimental X-ray data.
